Welcome back, and hello to those that are coming to our blog for the first time.
LETS GET THIS PARTY STARTED!
As I am pretty sure you guys know we are from Florida, where the weather changes in an instant. The summers are brutal with the heat, but at any given moment the sky can turn this ominous dark and foreboding grey. The clouds become giant marshmallows of doom… over exaggerating, maybe. Then they drop the rain. To some it’s an inconvenience, to me its heaven.
There is nothing like the slow patter of the rain coming with the rumble of the thunder. It makes all the worries of the day wash away, don’t get me wrong i love a good sunrise or sunset, but storm clouds are where it is at.
You ask any Photographer and they will say the most important thing in your shot is good lighting. I have seen people walk away from their shoot because the lighting was wrong, granted I have done this.
To me clouds are the most important. I love how the light bounces off the clouds to give all those wonderful colors of the rainbow.
Sometimes you catch that perfect moment where you get that approaching storm that mingles with the sunset of sunrise and its like winning the lotto. I happen to heading out to do a sunrise shoot. It was pitch black out and i couldn’t see a single thing in the sky, not even a star. I was like yea… another morning with total cloud cover. So i thought i would head to one of my favorite spots, Bird Key Park in Sarasota. I was taking some long expose shots of the John Ringling Bridge for practice and low and behold this storm started to roll in as the sunrise came up. Talk about luck. This is why I love storms.
Next time a storm rolls in grab a cup of coffee, or maybe some hot tea, sit back with your favorite blanket and enjoy the wonders of the storm. I hope it is as calming for you as it is for me.
Have a Great Day My Friends!!!
